Benefits from sodding are:

  •  Provides immediate erosion control on a steep slope;

  •  Increases the property value;

  •  Reduces pollution level and generates oxygen;

  •  Absorbs sunlight and helps cooling your house during summer season;

  • Reduces noise level and creates safe environment for kids and pets.;

  • A high quality turf is available for use much more quickly than with other methods and there is less investment of time and work by the homeowner;

  • Sod can be installed almost anytime (in contrast to seeding ) the ground isn’t frozen from mid-April through the end of October. Green Warriors avoid installing sod so late in the fall that the root system doesn’t have time to penetrate the soil adequately before the soil freezes

SODDING

(Lawn installation) in Toronto

Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario, is a major Canadian city along Lake Ontario’s northwestern shore. It’s the most populous city in Canada. The name of Toronto has a history distinct from that of the city itself. Originally, the term "Taronto" referred to a channel of water between Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching on maps as early as 1675 but in time the name passed southward, and was eventually applied to a new fort at the mouth of the Humber River. Fort Toronto was the first settlement in the area, and lent its name to what became the city of Toronto.

Nowadays Toronto a dynamic metropolis with a core of soaring skyscrapers, all dwarfed by the iconic, free-standing CN Tower. Toronto also has many green spaces, from the orderly oval of Queen’s Park to 400-acre High Park and its trails, sports facilities and zoo.

   As growing landscaping company, we are proud to provide our sodding (lawn replacement) services to Toronto residents.

   Sodding (Lawn installation) is the quickest and most reliable means of establishing a lawn. Sod is grass which is cut from a well established field of grass and placed at other locations. Sod covers the soil completely and virtually eliminates evaporation of water from the soil and loss of soil by erosion. Sod from local farms is ready for planting when it is 12-14 months old. It needs to be mature enough so the pieces will hold together. Thinly cut sod will root faster than sod with a lot of soil beneath the foliage and thin thatch layer.

 Installation process of new sod:

1.Remove and dispose of any existing grass/ lawn by trimming or cutting it with special equipment.

2.Tilling existing soil to increase quality using rototiller.

What's a Rototiller? Rototillers are machines that help break up and turn the soil. Rototillers loosen the soil a few inches below the surface and can aerate the ground and allow nutrients in the soil to be absorbed by the roots of new plants.

3.Adding topsoil and leveling.

As grass is a living organism, it needs a bed of healthy topsoil to root in. Also very important in the installation of grass is to ensure that the land slopes correctly to avoid any puddling of water after a rainfall.

4.Rolling the area and final levelling.

A sod roller is a heavy drum that is filled with water and can be pushed, using a handle, across the lawn to help the sod make good contact with the soil.

5.Laying down new sod (turf rolls) and rolling again to remove air pockets under the sod strips and to press the roots firmly into the soil. If air pockets are not removed, they can potentially result in drying of the root system, causing dead spots on the surface. Our sod is always fresh, cut out and delivered to your home on the same day of installation.

6.Watering new lawn.

Factors that affects the cost of sodding ( New lawn installation ):

Grading issues – uneven areas, or significant changes to the terrain, may affect the cost of installing a new lawn

Project size – the larger the area to be sodded the lower will be the cost per square foot.

Quality of existing soil – depleted, clay soil requires more than just one inch of soil to be worked in.
