Why Choose Sodding for Your Lawn?
Sodding is the quickest and most efficient way to establish a healthy, beautiful lawn in just one day. Our sod is harvested using advanced commercial equipment from well-established grass fields and delivered to your location, where it’s carefully installed. Sod covers the soil completely, helping to prevent water evaporation and soil erosion, creating a lush, green surface.
We use only premium-quality sod sourced from local sod farms, ensuring long-lasting results. Green Warriors is proud to offer a 90-day warranty on all sod installation projects, covering both sod and labor. With hundreds of satisfied customers in Newmarket, we are the go-to experts for reliable, high-quality lawn installation.

When Can We Install Sod?
Sod can be installed anytime from mid-April to late November, provided the ground isn’t frozen. Unlike seeding, which requires more time to establish, sod can take root quickly, giving you a beautiful lawn in no time. Our team ensures that the sod is installed before the soil freezes, allowing roots to establish themselves properly.

Factors that affect the cost of sodding ( New lawn installation ):
Grading issues – uneven areas, or significant changes to the terrain, may affect the cost of installing a new lawn
Project size – the larger the area to be sodded the lower will be the cost per square foot.
Quality of existing soil – depleted, clay soil requires more than just one inch of soil to be worked in.

Sod Installation process in Newmarket:

1. Remove and dispose of any existing grass/ lawn by cutting it with a sod cutter for smaller residential sodding projects and using the bigger machinery for commercial projects.

2. Leveling the topsoil.
Adding the topsoil and leveling it to make sure there is enough room to root in. Also very important in the installation of grass is to ensure that the land slopes correctly to avoid any puddling of water after a rainfall.

3. Using a lawn roller and final leveling.
A sod roller is a heavy drum that is filled with water and can be pushed, using a handle, across the lawn to reveal the low and high spots for better leveling.

4.Laying down new sod (turf rolls) and rolling again to help the sod make good contact with the soil, remove air pockets under the sod strips, and press the roots firmly into the soil. If air pockets are not removed, they can potentially result in drying of the root system, causing dead spots on the surface. Our sod is always fresh, cut out at the sod farm, and delivered to your property on the installation day.

5.Watering new lawn.
The final step is watering. We will give the grass about 1 inch of water right after the sod installation process is finished.

6. Cleaning up after the sod installation.

We offer 90 days WARRANTY on labor and sod. LEARN MORE about our sod warranty.

In Newmarket, Ontario, property owners are required to maintain their properties in accordance with municipal by-laws that address landscaping, sodding, grass maintenance, and overall yard upkeep. Key regulations include:

Property Standards By-law 2017-62:
-
Yard Maintenance: Property owners must keep their yards clean and free from rubbish, garbage, brush, waste, litter, and other debris. Additionally, yards should be maintained to prevent heavy undergrowth and noxious weeds such as ragweed, poison oak, poison ivy, and poison sumac.
-
Vegetation Control: Ground cover, hedges, or bushes must not be unsightly or unreasonably overgrown in relation to their environment. Dead, decayed, or damaged trees and branches that create an unsafe or unsightly condition must be removed.
Clean Yards By-law 2017-63:
-
Grass and Weed Height: Property owners are responsible for ensuring that weeds and grass on their property do not exceed 20 centimeters (8 inches) in height. Cuttings should be removed and disposed of appropriately.
-
Ground Cover: Suitable ground cover must be provided to prevent soil erosion. Where grass forms part of the ground cover, it should be sodded or seeded as necessary to maintain it in a living condition and cut to prevent unreasonable overgrowth relative to the neighboring environment.
-
Boulevard Maintenance: Property owners are responsible for maintaining the boulevard adjacent to their property, keeping it free of long grass, weeds, debris, and ensuring it is clear from damage, holes, and ruts.
-

Outdoor Water-Use By-law:
-
Watering Restrictions: Outdoor water use is permitted between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on odd/even days corresponding to the property's address number. There is a one-month grace period for watering new sod and seed. This by-law is in effect year-round.
-
For detailed information and any updates to these regulations, property owners should consult the Town of Newmarket's official by-laws and guidelines. Adherence to these standards ensures the community remains clean, safe, and visually appealing.
