Irrigation system Warranty

At Green Warriors, we stand behind the quality of our irrigation installations. Our irrigation systems are professionally designed and installed using quality irrigation components, including Hunter® products.

New irrigation systems installed by Green Warriors Landscaping are backed by our 5-Year Limited Installation Warranty, subject to the terms and conditions below.

5-Year Limited Installation Warranty

Our 5-Year Limited Installation Warranty begins on the original installation completion date and applies to irrigation systems installed by Green Warriors.

During the warranty period, Green Warriors will repair or replace, at our discretion, covered components or correct installation-related defects where the problem is determined to have resulted from our workmanship or from a covered component installed by us.

For an approved warranty claim, there is no charge for the labour required to correct the covered installation-related issue.

What Is Covered

Subject to the conditions and exclusions below, the warranty may cover:

• Irrigation pipes and fittings installed by Green Warriors 

• Irrigation valves and valve connections

• Sprinkler heads and nozzles

• Valve boxes

• Irrigation wiring installed as part of the system

• Controller installation and connections

• Rain sensor installation and connections

• Leaks resulting from defective installation or workmanship

• Installation-related system malfunctions

• Other irrigation components supplied and installed by Green Warriors Landscaping

Coverage applies only to the original irrigation system and components supplied and installed by Green Warriors Landscaping.

Required Annual Maintenance

Ontario winters can cause significant damage to irrigation systems if water remains inside pipes, valves, sprinkler heads or other components.

To maintain Green Warriors Landscaping's 5-Year Limited Installation Warranty, the irrigation system must receive the following two maintenance services from Green Warriors Landscaping every year:

Spring Opening / Start-Up
The system is activated, inspected and tested for proper operation.

Fall Winterization / Blowout
Water is professionally removed from the irrigation system using compressed air to help protect the system from freezing temperatures.

Both services must be performed by Green Warriors Landscaping for each season during the warranty period.

If either required annual service is not completed by Green Warriors Landscaping, coverage under our 5-Year Limited Installation Warranty may be discontinued because we can no longer verify the system's maintenance, winterization, operating conditions or modifications performed by others.

Seasonal maintenance services are billed separately at our current rates. Prices may change over time and may vary depending on the size, number of zones, configuration and location of the irrigation system.

What Is Not Covered

The Green Warriors Landscaping warranty does not cover damage or system problems resulting from circumstances outside our installation workmanship, including:

• Freeze damage where required winterization was not performed by Green Warriors Landscaping

• Damage caused by another contractor, landscaper or service provider

• Damage caused by digging, excavation, fence installation, deck installation, construction or renovation

• Damage caused by aeration equipment, lawn equipment, vehicles or machinery

• Damage caused by snowplows or snow-removal equipment

• Damage caused by animals, rodents or pests

• Damage caused by tree or plant roots

• Accidental or intentional physical damage

• Vandalism

• Lightning, electrical surges or power-related damage

• Flooding or other extreme weather conditions

• Changes in municipal or private water pressure or water supply

• Poor water quality, excessive minerals, sediment, sand or debris

• Clogged sprinkler heads, nozzles, filters or drip irrigation caused by water conditions or external contamination

• Normal wear and tear

• Damage resulting from improper use or operation of the system

• Unauthorized modifications, additions, repairs or alterations to the irrigation system

• Relocation of sprinkler heads, valves, pipes, wiring or other components by anyone other than Green Warriors Landscaping

• Changes to the landscape after installation that affect irrigation coverage, including new gardens, trees, shrubs, structures, fences, decks, pools, sheds, walkways or other landscaping

Landscape Changes and Sprinkler Coverage

The irrigation system is designed according to the property conditions and landscaping existing at the time of installation.

Plants, trees and shrubs grow over time and may eventually block or alter sprinkler coverage. Changes to grading, gardens, sod, landscaping or structures can also affect the original irrigation design.

Adjustments, relocation or addition of sprinkler heads or irrigation zones required because of landscape growth or property modifications are considered system modifications and are not covered by the installation warranty.

Sprinkler Head Adjustments

Initial sprinkler-head adjustment and coverage are completed as part of the installation.

Routine adjustments that become necessary because of soil settlement, lawn growth, landscaping changes, physical movement or other conditions occurring after installation are considered maintenance and are not installation defects.

These adjustments can normally be addressed during the annual spring opening or through a separate service appointment.

Manufacturer Warranties

Certain irrigation products installed in your system may also carry warranties provided by their respective manufacturers.

Green Warriors Landscaping primarily uses Hunter® irrigation products. Manufacturer warranty periods vary by product and are determined solely by the manufacturer.

Manufacturer warranties are separate from the Green Warriors Landscaping 5-Year Limited Installation Warranty and remain subject to the manufacturer's applicable terms, conditions and exclusions.

Where applicable, Green Warriors Landscaping can assist in identifying a potentially defective component; however, manufacturer warranty approval is ultimately determined according to the manufacturer's warranty policy.

Repairs and Work Performed by Others

Customers should contact Green Warriors Landscaping before allowing another contractor or service provider to repair or modify a system covered by our warranty.

Green Warriors Landscaping cannot warrant work, replacement components or modifications performed by another company or individual.

If another contractor performs work on the irrigation system, any subsequent issue caused by or related to that work will not be covered by our warranty.

Warranty Service Calls

If you believe your irrigation system has a problem covered by warranty, please contact Green Warriors Landscaping before attempting repairs.

We will review the service history and arrange an inspection where necessary.

If our technician determines that the issue is covered by the warranty, the covered repair will be completed without charge.

If the issue is determined not to be covered by warranty, including damage, maintenance issues or third-party modifications, the visit and any required repairs may be subject to our regular service-call, labour and material charges.

We will explain the issue and applicable charges before proceeding with non-warranty repairs whenever reasonably possible.

Property Access

The property owner is responsible for providing reasonable access to the irrigation system, controller, water supply, valves and affected areas when warranty inspection or service is required.

Additional charges may apply where special access, excavation or removal of structures or landscaping is required to reach the irrigation system and the access issue is unrelated to our original installation.

Warranty Transfer

The Green Warriors Landscaping 5-Year Limited Installation Warranty applies to the irrigation system installed at the original property.

If ownership of the property changes during the warranty period, the remaining warranty may be transferred to the new property owner provided that:

• Green Warriors Landscaping is notified of the ownership change;

• all required annual Green Warriors Landscaping opening and winterization services have been completed; and

• the irrigation system has not been modified or serviced in a manner that would otherwise affect warranty coverage.

The original installation date remains the start date of the 5-year warranty period.

Warranty Limitations

This warranty applies only to irrigation work and components originally supplied and installed by Green Warriors Landscaping.

The warranty does not guarantee that landscaping will remain green, healthy or free from dry areas, as lawn and plant health can be affected by weather, watering schedules, soil conditions, insects, disease, fertilization, mowing practices, shade, drainage and other factors outside the irrigation system itself.

Nothing in this warranty is intended to limit any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable Ontario law.

Protect Your 5-Year Warranty

To keep your Green Warriors Landscaping irrigation warranty active:

1. Schedule your spring irrigation opening with Green Warriors Landscaping each year.

2. Schedule your fall irrigation winterization/blowout with Green Warriors Landscaping each year.

3. Contact us before making repairs or modifications to the system.

4. Notify us promptly if you notice leaks, damaged sprinkler heads, pressure problems or other system issues.

Proper annual maintenance helps protect your irrigation system and allows it to provide reliable service for many years.
